What is a Simmer Pot & How to Use

 Simmer Pots

A simmer pot is a simple, natural way to fill your home with delightful, seasonal scents.
Used for hundreds of years, simmer pots have a long history rooted in the simple, age-old practice of using natural ingredients to freshen and fragrance living spaces.
They’re created by gently simmering a mixture of aromatic ingredients—such as spices, herbs, fruits, and flowers—in water on your stovetop. As the ingredients heat up, they release their natural fragrances.
More than just an air freshener—our simmer pots will help you create a cozy and comforting atmosphere, invoke nostalgia, and connect with traditions that span generations.
Upstream creative is currently producing Autumn, Fall, and Christmas/Holiday scented simmer pots.

How to Use

Each simmer pot comes with instructions right on the package, which makes them great for gift giving.

Prepare Your Simmer Pot & Add Your Ingredients
Add the contents of your simmer pot bag to a pot of water.

Heat It Up
Place the pot on your stovetop and bring it to a gentle boil over medium heat.
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low to keep it at a simmer

Pro tip: you can also add the ingredients into a slow cooker, add water and leave on medium or low.

Enjoy the Aroma
Let the simmer pot fill your home with its delightful scent. Check periodically to ensure there’s enough water—add more as needed to prevent the ingredients from drying out.

Reuse or Store
After use, allow the pot to cool. You can store the ingredients in the fridge in a sealed container and reuse them within a few days by adding fresh water and repeating the steps above.
